Employee Reward Programmes on Enterprise Social Networks

Employee Reward Programmes on Enterprise Social Networks

Enterprise Social Networks such as Yammer and Podio are becoming very popular in the workplace. They focus on the use of online social networks or social relations among people who share business interests. Enterprise social networking is often a facility of enterprise social software which is social software used in “enterprise” contexts. It encompasses modifications to classic software platforms by large companies to organize their communication, collaboration and other aspects of their intranets.

They are great as they bring the social element of Facebook to the office, offering an up to date and simple way to stay in touch with colleagues and business partners and share tasks without having to share your private accounts with your colleagues. They combine the social element with the business element of corporate internets, and allow colleagues to delegate tasks to each other and also congratulate each other. Whereas it would be embarrassing and inappropriate for a boss to give an employee a gold star or congratulate someone on a promotion on Facebook or twitter, Yammer is a great place to do this. A gold star can be awarded and this will be public to employees in the network.  The programme can also be used to share diary dates and invite colleagues out for events. Yammer can also be used to award points which can be redeemed as physical gifts under the Giving a Star feature.
