Some New Ideas for Business Gifting and Rewards
Many managers don’t know what to buy for their employees to say well done. If you have thousands of people working for you, how are you supposed to know all their specific tastes? Often employers end up gifting either a gift card or a bottle of wine to say well done. Whilst these are great gifts most people will enjoy, it would be nice to see a more diverse range of gifts being given in the work place.
Below we have put together some pointers that may help you when choosing a gift for your employees:
Don’t buy a gift that is too personal such as perfume or make up. Women typically have brands they use religiously, so steer clear of sending those types of gifts. Instead, send a pampering hamper with items such as bubble bath and candles – a much safer option.
Presentation is key. A personalised, nicely wrapped gift will always impress no matter how small the gift is. Personalisation and good presentation makes people feel valued, like they are worth going that extra mile for. When a child looks under the tree at Christmas, how much more appealing and exciting do the gifts look when they are all wrapped up? When sending gifts to employees, the same level of care should be taken to add some magic to the day of the employee. Instead of receiving a bottle of wine, a beautifully presented box including wine and a gift card would take the gesture from “oh thanks” to “oh wow!”
Micro gifts are a fantastic way to reward or thank someone at a low cost of on average £5. gifted2you provides micro gifts in a range of their B2B partner reward and recognition programmes. Gifts such as Clipper organic tea and biscuit sets, tiny soaps and chocolate lollipops are wrapped and sent with a personalised gift message and these are a great low budget way to recognise achievement quickly.
Choose a thoughtful gift and don’t always restrict yourself to a stereotypical gift like wine and flowers. When choosing a gift for someone, you really need to think about the individual and their needs and beliefs before sending. For example, if you are buying a gift for a Muslim, you would need to be mindful not to gift alcohol or pork products. If you were gifting a vegetarian, steer clear of gelatine or meat containing foods. We learned this the hard way when we had created a lucky dip at a field marketing event and two people looked quite offended when they pulled out a chorizo sausage! If in doubt, don’t send.
Pampering and food hampers give a sense of a special occasion. A well-presented food hamper at Christmas or pampering hamper will make someone think you have really put thought into the girl and they will think fondly of the giver every time they use one of the products. They are great for a range of age groups and you won’t find many women who won’t enjoy a pamper hamper.
18-24 year olds will enjoy an e-gift they can use instantly such as iTunes, Nandos voucher etc. An e-voucher is a great choice for a young adult. They will enjoy the fact they can use it instantly and appreciate something a little unusual and current.
